Part of the medicines, to benefit about 50 adults, are one box each of Plendil (to treat hypertension or high blood pressure) and Imdur (to prevent angina attacks or chest pains), and Zantac (to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines), were donations by Glaxo Smith Kline made possible by RC Makati Buendia President, Manny David.
The other medicines, composed of vitamins, paracetamol, cough syrup and antibacterial solutions to benefit about 40 children, were donated by Baxter Philippines through the efforts of RCMBA Rotarian Arlene Tobias.
Panatag Health Center (PHC) Officer-in-Charge, Dra. Shari Savalvarro, received the medicine donations and will take charge of their distribution to the target beneficiaries in Welfareville. For many years, PHC has been RCMBA’s partner in service for all medical, health and nutrition programs implemented by the club in its adopted community in Welfareville. These include RCMBA’s annual Anti-TB Pedia, which benefits, at least, 50 children aged 3-10 years old, and the Milk for Sibol, also a yearly 6-month feeding program for the pupils of the GK Sibol pre-school in the same area. |
