RCMBA PP RACHEL GETS RI RECOGNITION

On June 19, 2010, the day before the official start of the Rotary International Convention in Montreal, Canada, Montreal Convention Chair, Bob Scott, who is also the incumbent RI Chair of The Rotary Foundation (TRF), together with RI Convention Promotions Chair, Ken Morgan, paid tribute to the 22 members of the Montreal Convention promotions committee.  Each was given a certificate of recognition for their outstanding accomplishments and garnering the target attendance from their respective areas of coverage.

One of them is our very own PP Rachel Ocampo of RC Makati Bel-Air (RCMBA) who is also an incumbent Deputy District Secretary of D3830.  She was assigned to Zone 7A (Philippines and Indonesia), which registered the 5th highest in attendance.  Upon receiving her certificate, PP Rachel gave, in turn, the Philippine Rotary 90 Years commemorative stamp as a token to the RI Convention chairs.

The Montreal Convention had an overall attendance of more than 18,000 Rotarians from 154 countries, one of the highest in RI’s records.  The traditional Asian Breakfast attended by Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and other SE Asian countries, had a total attendance of 600, of which, 180 are from the Philippines.  It was one of the highest attendance of the Asian Breakfast after the centennial year.

District 3830 was well represented in the convention.  Many Philippine Rotarians participated in a choreographed number of native Filipino folk dances at the Asian Breakfast at the Westin Montreal Hotel.  With PP Rachel from RCMBA were CP Sonie Zamora and PP Rico Ocampo.  Other D3830 Rotarians include DGE Billy Villareal and Pres. Caloy Yturzaeta of RC Makati EDSA, PP Lilibeth Dela Cruz of RC Parañaque Metro, PP Pepz Bengzon of RC Makati, PP Maridel Villavicencio of RC Makati San Lorenzo, PP Ace Tolentino of RC Makati Northwest, and Pres. Henry Tia of RC Muntinlupa South, among others.  Fr. Rocky Evangelista, a member of RC Alabang, delivered a talk in a plenary session about the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Home for Streetchildren, which captured the hearts of thousands of Rotarians and gave him a standing ovation.
