RCMBA LEAD-HOSTS D3830 SONGFEST 2010
November 14, 2010, Makati City


Dubbed “Rotary’s Got Talent,” the 2010 D3830’s Youth Solo and Chorale Singing Competition (YSC), held at the Pacific College in Magallanes Makati City last November 14, 2010, was another successful showcase of outstanding musical talents of District 3830’s youth.  From 7 finalists, RC Makati San Miguel’s bet, Samarleta Calajas, was declared the Solo Category grand champion.  Meanwhile, RC Makati Olympia’s The Voice of Olympia won the top prize in the Chorale Category besting 4 other finalists, including last year’s champion, PLM Choir Group of RC Muntinlupa North, which won second runner-up this time.

The winners and their sponsoring Rotary Clubs, are as follows:

         Solo Category:

Grand Champion

Samarleta Calajas (RC Makati San Miguel)

1st Runner-Up

Willamar Ruadilla (RC Makati Olympia)

2nd Runner-Up

Lydia Alzona (RC Fort Bonifacio Global City)

         Chorale Category:

Grand Champion

The Voice of Olympia (RC Makati Olympia)

1st Runner-Up

Chorus Vocales (RC San Nicolas Makati)

2nd Runner-Up

PL Muntinlupa Choir Group (RC Muntinlupa North)

The event was lead-hosted by RC Makati Bel-Air and Pres. Robbie Bonoan served as the program’s emcee.  PP Rico Ocampo, on the other hand, served as the chair of the YSC 2010 management committee and the board of judges.  He was ably supported by the representatives from each of the other host clubs, namely, PP Cherry Rosario (Makati McKinley), IPP Ador Tolentino (Parañaque Southwest), CP Vhell Arias (Cosmopolitan Las Piñas), PP Wash Roqueza (Makati Paseo de Roxas), PP Sue Mendoza (Muntinlupa South) and PP Sweetie Gardiner (Muntinlupa Filinvest).
The other contenders in the Solo Category were Jonelle Egagamao (Las Piñas Camino Real), Josyl Martelino (Makati), Salve Regiena Binas (Makati Legaspi) and Jhunyrp Flores (San Nicolas Makati).  The other finalists in the Chorale Category were RCMMc Rotaract Earist Chorale and Voices for the Lord who were both sponsored by Makati McKinley.
