Art Appreciation Talk Slated for Tuesday, September 11
PP Jack Teotico, the Galerie Joaquin Group’s Managing Director is slated to give a talk to the members and guests of Rotary Club of Makati Bel-Air (RCMBA) during its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the Rockwell Club at 7 pm. Titled “Appreciating Philippine Art”, PP Jack (RCMBA’s president for Rotary Year 1995-96) will cover various topics such as why people buy art, what kind of art is being bought, the different kinds and styles of art and the different media used by leading artists.
The talk will also cover what paintings starting, as well as established, collectors usually purchase, as well as the current art trends in the international Southeast Asian market. Dubbed by leading art critics as Manila’s most exciting contemporary gallery, Galerie Joaquin has been the venue for the shows of many of the top visual artists of the country today, such as National Artist Arturo Luz, Presidential Medal of Merit awardees Juvenal Sanso and Federico Aguilar Alcuaz.
Galerie Joaquin represents many of the outstanding Filipino artists whose works are now auctioned at international auction houses such as Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Larasati. Aside from Luz, Sanso and Alcuaz, these artists include Mario Parial, Lydia Velasco, Carlo Magno, Eufemio Rasco, Jerry Morada, Vincent de Pio, Aileen Lanuza, Jaspher Penuliar among others.
Galerie Joaquin has linked up with several sister galleries in Metro Manila including Galerie Francesca at the Festival Mall in Alabang and Galerie Raphael at Serendra in Fort Bonifacio. It has also set up Galerie Joaquin Singapore at the prestigious Regent of Singapore.
