Planning Workshop - Identifying Community Service

Highlights:

This is a workshop hosted by PP Ed Manda of RC Makati Central, who is also the General Manager of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The project aims to address problems on environmental degradation.  34 clubs from the D3830 attended the workshop and each were asked to choose from the following areas of concerns:

1. Solid waste management 
2. Planting of bamboo
3. Pig waste – biogas digester
4. Damayan sa Lawa – medical and dental mission, and provision of sanitary facilities for poor families along the shores of Laguna lake

Along with 14 other clubs, RCMBA chose planting through dispersal of bamboo seedlings within Taguig.  The project implementation are as follows:

1. The 14 clubs will contribute P6,250 each to raise P100,000, which will be matched by the LLDA) to fund the purchase of bamboo seedlings.
2. The seedlings will be turned over to Rotary Community Corps (RCCs) already existing in the area or still to be established through the coordination of District RCC Chair, PP Harold, and through the Barangays where the LLDA has coordinations with.
3. Pres. Alice Lucas of RC Taguig West was appointed in-charge of collecting the shares of other clubs.
