This was the year the Club ventured forth to give the nation better dentures, rallying behind Pres. Lolit Sunglao and the crusading cry “People unite, you have nothing to lose but your cavities!!”
The members launched an unprecedented dental mission program with a twice-a-month-and-more frequency. The service projects included medication, nutrition and feeding programs for the sick and elderly, the children of the poor, a dance for the benefit of the elderly, and the donation of books and calculators.
Also ticked “done” in the agenda were the continued livelihood support for the abused women of St. Mary’s in Tagaytay, contribution to Stepping Stone, 8 medical and 8 optical missions, an anti-rabies campaign with other clubs, TOPS participation, a leadership seminar for the Club’s rotaractors, and an environmental undertaking where the members distributed their seeds and seedlings.
It was a year of change and transition, of continuity and re-discovery. It was also a time of panic when the members realized that they were becoming overly serious social activists. In no time at all, they had scrambled back to the old and beloved ramparts of decadence and hedonism. Close call... hic...
