RY 1999 - 2000

Romeo "Romy" De Guzman

“One Club to show them all, One Club to guide them, One Club to bring them all and in the brightness bind them In the District where the best and the brightest are”.

-RCMBA’s version of JRR Tolkien’s opening verse in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (and because Harry Potter is NOT read in our Club!)

Environmental Protection Years!!! This was the year the Club turned green! Or more precisely, this was the year the Club turned a greenish brown.

Greenish brown was the color of the mangrove saplings the members planted in Bgy. Cuaming in the Philippines South, in bed to reverse the decline of the ecologically critical mangrove swamps in the area. It was to be the pilot undertaken in a strategic effort to save the country’s mangrove which serves as nature’s marine hatcheries and anti-pollution rampart. Adjudged best pilot project for the district in the millennium year, the mangrove project is a sustained effort spearheaded by RCMBA.

At the helm of the Club was laid-back businessman Romy de Guzman who proved better at environmental protection advocacy than Greenpeace itself! and to make sure that the Club would always be secure, Pres. Romy also led in the Club’s gift-giving in the Philippine Security Group’s St. Joseph’s Parish. The Club also continued with its regular dental and medical missions, this time under the able helmsmanship of Director Jimmy Dinglasan, and hosted the District Officer’s Training Seminar at Canyon Woods in Batangas!

Now, environmental protection is tough on the body. So the Club was constrained also to intensify it’s partying. There for the members to remind themselves that RMCBA was the One Club!
