Roses, carnations,/Delightful Bel-Air,/
Wear as you Jewels!/Heavenly dawn,
Her Lovely members/With soft light refuels.
Oh, what a beautiful morning!/
The dawn’s white fingers reach/
And caress the meadow itself adorning./
Bel-Air!

Dr. Jose Rizal’s “Junto al Pasig” for her own true love, RCMBA.
She wishes to make of record that Ka Pepe was never a Sunlife client.
Imagine Rotary in Latin American Magico-Realist mode. Picture a year of service in Never-never Land. Conjure a fellowship of Rotarians heartily slaying dragons and ennobling those they touch. Visualize eleven knights and fairy princesses comforting orphans and street children, giving medicine, wheelchairs, and toys, restoring sight across the land, inspiring and organizing young people, extolling culture and the arts and building bridges of goodwill.
Think of a year commenced with Fiesta and Flamenco, served out with the verve and power of Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and the elegant gentleness of Beatrix Potter’s art and prose, and concluded to the beat and rhythm of samba and jazz.
It was the year the Club wrapped its deadly serious civic missions in shimmering satin and softest silk. It was the twelve months where the members made humanity their business amidst silver tinsel and magical dust. It was 365 days down the avenues of service paved in cool pastel hues, in rich burgundies and deepest blues. It was a year in Fantasia as only Pres. Nenette could have brought us!
