Like Donna’s hotel on that sun-bathed Greek island, the Club was starting to show its age as it entered its twelfth year. For sure, like the hotel and Donna herself, the Club was gracious in its maturity owing to strong genes and excellent bones. But still, everyone could feel the winds of change blowing once more. And then the resurgence came, from the very core of the Club itself, brought by no less that its founder and Charter President. Mamma Mia, CP Sonie’s back! Mamma Mia, the edge is back! Mamma Mia, we party once more! Mamma Sonie, Sonie Mia! CP Sonie, mamma Mia!

As with Donna and her islanders, so did the members and their Sonie go forth with renewed vigor and commitment – to unprecedented partnerships with Gawad Kalinga and other civic organizations all across Metro Manila and as far away as Batangas, to book and teaching guide donations in furtherance of stronger basic education and empowered parenting, to the building of international bridges with Malaysia and the US, and to wonderful fellowship firmly erected upon the excellent grilling of prime beef washed down with the silkiest red wines!

The story of Mamma Mia and Donna is all about second chances. Though Grecian in tone and setting, it is nevertheless a universal tale. And when Sonie stepped-up to serve once more, she gave her Club its second chance. As with the water that burst through the brittle tiles of Donna’s hotel, to gently shower her and her friends at the end of the story, Sonie’s energetic re-emergence and the blessings this showered on us all, was a sign of one and only one thing: Aphrodite is truly behind the fortunes of the Club, generously dispensing second chances, and lovingly guiding it toward success and fulfillment. Mamma Mia! Here we go again!
